Winners Don’t Quit. Quitters Don’t Win.

If you’ve recently lost your fitness mojo, slipped into old habits or given up exercise all together, then hopefully my 5-year-old stepson’s words act as a form of motivation to get you back on track…

“Winners don’t quit. Quitters don’t win.”

Cute right? Well, it’s true.

He asked me why I’d stopped playing tennis with his dad, then repeated this to me.

I was shocked. He genuinely surprised me. He’s only 5-years-old!

But he’s right.

Sometimes you just need to be reminded of the obvious. I thanked him for encouraging me to start playing again and told him I’d tell my clients what we told me… That “Winners don’t quit. Quitters don’t win.”

If you want to get better at something, you have to keep doing it.

Simple as that. Consistency is key to improving.

So, don’t be put off completely if you don’t like things when you start weight training, or prioritising your heath. Expect to try things and potentially suck at them when you begin. It’s normal! The point is to keep trying and not to give up.

Perhaps you’ve tried lifting a few weights recently at the gym, but you’ve stopped going because you didn’t see results the next day. Or perhaps you’ve just hired a new trainer and thought you’d have a 6-pack after 2 sessions? Or you may have signed up to the gym to get into shape for a summer holiday and you’ve not been back after your first few visits?

Don’t give up that easily. It takes time.

Progress doesn’t happen straight away.

Stay on track and just keep chipping away. Consistency really is key. Often progress or the end-goal is closer than you think, but if you quit, you’ll be right back where you started.

Don’t quit because you’re not excited anymore. Or because you’ve lost motivation. Or because it’s hard. Or because you’re tired. Or because you think you don’t have time. Or because something has happened at work. Or because your mood is low.

Just keep going.

Stay consistent.

And don’t quit.

This can apply to all aspects of your life.

Just keep pushing on.

Chip away.

Day by day make small steps towards the end-goal.

Don’t give up.

Remember, “Winners don’t quit. Quitters don’t win.”
